There are many benefits to burning soy candles:
Soy Candles are clean burning and non-toxic. Traditional paraffin candles contain 11 documented toxins including 2 cancer causing agents that are also found in cigarettes.
- Paraffin candles are made from the unnatural by-products of petroleum refinement -- whereas Soy Candles are all natural.
- Soy Candles burn slower, up to twice as long as paraffin.
- Soy Candles hold color and scent better than paraffin.
- Soy Candles are biodegradable. Paraffin candles pollute the air.
- Soy is water-soluble, so glassware can be easily cleaned. Paraffin sticks to glassware and is difficult to remove.
- Soy easily wipes off surfaces and does not damage tables, carpeting, fabrics, or furniture like paraffin can.
- Cotton wicks are healthy burning with no known harmful side effects.
Helpful Tips for Burning Soy Candles
Place Soy Candle on a heat resistant, dry surface away from anything that can catch fire, and out of reach of children, and pets. Glass containers may become hot. Always burn candle on a protected surface or coaster, and avoid moving lit candles. Avoid burning candles in a draft or near excessive vibration as this may cause uneven burning.
A burning candle should never be left unattended. Keep candle in sight at all times. Discontinue use of candle when 1/4" of wax remains. Allowing candle to burn until no liquid remains will cause excessive heat, and may cause glass to break or incur damage to surface area where candle is being burned.
Do not trim wick(s) when lighting the first time. After that, trim to 1/4" to 1/2" before lighting. If soy candle begins to smoke, it is an indication that the wick is too long. Extinguish the wick and wait for wax to solidify before trimming the wick and relighting. Never replace the lid on a container candle to extinguish the flame.
Allowing candles to liquefy to the edge before extinguishing will prevent tunneling. The larger the diameter candle, the longer it will take the candle to liquefy to the edge.
Keep soy candle wax free of match pieces, wick trimmings, flammables, and combustibles. Damaged containers should not be used. Do not use if cracked, chipped or scratched.
Store soy candles in a cool, dark, dry place. Do not allow direct sunlight to any candle. Sunlight may cause change in candle characteristics and/or even oxidize.
